About me
My story
With a background deeply rooted in a love for dogs and enriched by years of experience in dog training, I, Rosemarie Stevenson, proudly stand as a certified science-based dog trainer. From my earliest memories, dogs have been my passion, driving me to help them become the best versions of themselves.
Growing up surrounded by dogs, I learned firsthand the importance of nurturing their behavior and fostering their potential. Witnessing the profound impact of well-trained dogs on the lives of their owners ignited my desire to share this knowledge with others.
Before embarking on my own journey, I had the privilege of honing my skills under the guidance of a seasoned expert with over 40 years of dog training experience. This invaluable mentorship equipped me with the tools and insights needed to excel in this field.
My approach to dog training is rooted in compassion, empathy, and science. I understand that every dog is unique, with its own set of behaviors and challenges. As a trainer, I strive to empower dog owners with the knowledge and skills they need to cultivate a strong, positive relationship with their canine companions.
One of my strengths lies in my ability to communicate complex concepts in a clear and relatable manner. I believe in providing dog owners with practical examples that help them understand the underlying reasons behind their dog's behavior. By fostering a deeper understanding and compassion for their furry friends, I aim to create lasting bonds built on trust and mutual respect.
For me, dog training is more than just a profession—it's a calling. It's about making a positive difference in the lives of dogs and their owners, one training session at a time. I am committed to helping every dog reach its full potential and to ensuring that every owner experiences the joy of having a well-behaved and happy canine companion.

Feedback about my work
Rosemarie was so very helpful with our little Pomchi. He was very reactive and would run away if he could. She gave us very clear simple steps to follow and implement into our daily routine to help us have more control and keep our little guy safe. We are still continuing to work and learn more skills and would highly recommend Barkvard School for dogs. Rosemarie knows what she’s doing and is very personable and friendly to work with. You can see how much she loves dogs and the dogs respect her. You will not be disappointed.

Our dogs, Jet and Cato, two Bolonka Zwetna females from the same litter, aged 11 months at the time, received training from Rosemarie from May to November 2022. The aim of the training was that the dogs would learn to listen well, be able to walk freely where possible, show good social behavior and therefore get along well with other dogs but also with children. The latter was also very important to us because we regularly have small children over. The training took place on an individual basis. For me it was very special to see how Rosemarie knows how to deal with dogs. She understands dogs but the dogs understand her too. In lessons, a mirror is often held up to the boss because you very quickly make mistakes and unintentionally learn the wrong behavior. This is always pointed out to you in a very clear manner without it coming across as annoying. The way Rosemarie handles the dogs, but also the owners, is great fun. The dogs always looked forward to the training.Partly because of Rosemarie's training, we have two very social dogs who interact very easily with other dogs. Furthermore, the children love the dogs and the dogs love the children.

We have a Golden Retriever with some behavioral problems and we already tried so many things, which basically came down to us walking on our toes. Already the first time, Rosemarie gave us simple assignments and we immediately saw the change between us and our dog. She is a great trainer, with no fear of dogs what so ever (which our dog made good use of 😜). She really took the time to listen to us, answer all of our questions, look at our situation and thought us why our dog is behaving a certain way. And all with plenty of attention and good snacks for our dog. What is also great, is that we can always message her when we have questions or share videos with her for feedback. Unfortunately, we had little time with her because of her move to Canada. But even in the three weeks that remained she made time for us and we much appreciate that!
