"We sent our schnoodle Bowser there for reactivity but also separation anxiety. We chose the board and train which was amazing. Rosemarie was absolutely fantastic and did such a great job to get Bowser in a better place. I can now walk Bowser with confidence. The support she gives before, during and after the stay is incredible. Do not hesitate to use Barkvard for any training.

Rosemarie is AMAZING. She did a board and train with my dog and taught him to be much more well behaved, calm, and independent. She genuinely cares for my dog and regularly checks in about him even though we're done. I truly couldn't recommend Barkvard more. Thank you so much.

Our dog's name is Hazel and she is a fairly reactive Shepherd / Husky cross. We rescued her at 2 years old and have had her for 2 years, and I honestly didn't think that the hostility she shows toward other dogs could be trained out of her. I was wrong.Rose first took Hazel for a 1-hour training session (which stretched into one hour and 20 minutes) and after that one hour Hazel was already better on the leash with less pulling and painting and sniffing. We decided to do the 7-day board and train, and we're so glad we did.Rose sends videos and progress reports either every day or every other day. Her husband videotapes everything so you get a real bird's-eye view of your dog's progress. It was amazing.By the end of the week Hazel was able to pass dogs without the aggressive huffing and puffing that she used to do. They even got together with another dog, and a couple of times went to a dog beach.Hazel's progress has been phenomenal and we are continuing with all the hints and suggestions that Rose gave us.At the end of the course I went for a walk with Hazel and Rose, then my husband went for a walk with them, and on the morning we were taking Hazel home we all went together. So Rose was really able to watch what we do and give us better ways to take care of Hazel and her needs. We also received a final report that lined out what she had done and what should still be done.I would recommend Rose and Barkvard 100%.

I contacted Rose regarding resource guarding issues with my American Bully, she came to my home and took the time to learn about our dog and the family and took the time to explain our dogs body language, she showed us what to do to fix these issues we were having during our session. After our training session Rose made a comprehensive personalized training plan for my dog Odin and what to do following our training session. We are happy and our dog is improving! Thank you Rose.

Rosemarie is amazing. She worked with my mini dachshund Frankie on his reactivity and fear based aggression, leash pulling, and recall. We have only had 1 private session so far, and she made a personalized training plan for us so we can practice and work independently, and Frankie is already showing huge improvements! I can’t recommend Barkvard and Rosemarie enough.

Glowing recommendation for Rosemarie and Barkvard - 5+ stars!
Rosemarie came to my home and trained our newly rescued 3yr old Dobergirl. We had lots of bad manners and obedience to work on. I was nervous to 'train' a stubborn dog with an unknown past but, Rosemarie was kind, patient and so knowledgeable. Her communication is also top shelf; always quick to respond to messages and offer advice post sessions. The R+ approach ensures that animals work towards reward training, not fear/punishment. Bonus: lots of treats involved!
Barkvards services were invaluable to our family, we cannot thank Rosemarie enough!

As a person with tons of dog experience my world was turned upside down when we ended up with a young dog with reactivity issues. We tried many things with her with no true fix that not only was workable in a daily life but also still kept her spunk and personality shining. We had Rosemarie come and do a private session with her and after that we were more then happy to sign up for a group class, she’s so knowledgeable and willing to work with the dog’s limitations. We are very excited to take more classes in the near future!

The time TJ - my dog and I spent with Rosemary at Barkvard School forDogs was awesome. TJ has learned a lot and so have I. We'll be back!!

Thanks again for all of your help with Margie so far, across both the beginners and intermediate classes. She's still a maniac that goes crazy for dogs and other people, but in a much more manageable way now (and luckily people seem to love her no matter what when we're out). She always loves going to the classes, and as you know she also loves you. This may be a very small thing, but one improvement that continues to make me happy is her ability/willingness to "place" when I need her too, such as on the scale at her vet's office. She is off the charts bananas when we go in to the vet, but before we started training it was an athletic event to get her weight (and took 2-3 of us to get her still enough to get a "good enough" glimpse of her weight). So she's still bananas when we go in (literally vibrating with excitement), but now I am able to break through that long enough to get her to place on the scale. and not need any help doing that. Again, a small thing, but with her these small things feel like big improvements.

Rose the dog whisperer We decided to participate in the “Here” training that Roos offered with our six-month-old puppy Saar. With a hunting dog (vizsla) we thought it was important that she would always come back to us, even if she saw or smelled a deer running loose in the woods. Roos taught us and Saar how to practice and soon Saar had mastered the principle of “Here”. We decided to continue training with Saar 1 on 1 with Roos: because there is still so much more to learn, we have no experience with raising dogs and Saartje could use some challenge. We really liked this! Roos clearly explains what you should and shouldn't do when learning and unlearning things and why. This will help you understand (the behavior of) your dog well. She also demonstrates a lot herself, so your dog quickly understands what the intention is. Roos is patient, clear and absolutely not pedantic. Very pleasant, because in the end it is not the dog but the owner who is trained 😅. She has a solution for all situations and offers alternatives if something does not work out as well. It requires a lot of patience and being very consistent and we will have to continue to practice that. But with Roos' basic rules and tips we have excellent tools for this!Family MarkesteinOur clients say

Read all about the people that went before you.Gained a lot of insight into the behavior of our dog Sjoefke and especially what our part was in this. Walks are now much more relaxing with a loose leash instead of Sjoefke pulling my windshield or not wanting to walk any further. He could also be very reactive to other dogs. Expert efforts have been made to expand and strengthen my role as owner. This has allowed us to build mutual trust. What I could never believe, but what did happen, is that I even dared to let him run loose in a fenced forest area. Very satisfied and grateful for the valuable training.Pebbles BrownAbout 2 years ago I was there when Roos entered our "Dog School De Bonte Hond" asking if she could join us to supplement her knowledge and experience. From then on she was my fellow instructor. In the practice of puppy and subsequent behavior courses, I got to know Roos as a very driven instructor who taught dog owners how to handle their dogs with a lot of patience and dedication. I am therefore certain that Canadian dog owners are in very good hands with Roos and her "Barkvard School for dogs" for all their canine questions and courses.Frans Tap, De Bonte HondRosemarie was so very helpful with our little Pomchi. We were given Rose's number when we were having problems with our pyrenean mountain dog and his behaviour. Rose was in Holland and we were in England which was not ideal but her help and advice made a huge difference in how we were able to manage him. Over the following 6 months we made great progress and thought we had finally managed to get our lovely dog back but unfortunately that was not the case.I really dont think we would have had those 6 months without Rose's input.Craig LumsdenOur dogs, Jet and Cato, two Bolonka Zwetna females from the same litter, aged 11 months at the time, received training from Rosemarie from May to November 2022. The aim of the training was that the dogs would learn to listen well, be able to walk freely where possible, show good social behavior and therefore get along well with other dogs but also with children. The latter was also very important to us because we regularly have small children over. The training took place on an individual basis. For me it was very special to see how Rosemarie knows how to deal with dogs. She understands dogs but the dogs understand her too. In lessons, a mirror is often held up to the boss because you very quickly make mistakes and unintentionally learn the wrong behavior. This is always pointed out to you in a very clear manner without it coming across as annoying. The way Rosemarie handles the dogs, but also the owners, is great fun. The dogs always looked forward to the training.Partly because of Rosemarie's training, we have two very social dogs who interact very easily with other dogs. Furthermore, the children love the dogs and the dogs love the children.Titia Shalk, AccountantRosemarie asked me if I wanted to write a reference, which I’m very happy to do because in a short time she learned us so much! We have a Golden Retriever with some behavioral problems and we already tried so many things, which basically came down to us walking on our toes. Already the first time, Rosemarie gave us simple assignments and we immediately saw the change between us and our dog. She is a great trainer, with no fear of dogs what so ever (which our dog made good use of 😜). She really took the time to listen to us, answer all of our questions, look at our situation and thought us why our dog is behaving a certain way. And all with plenty of attention and good snacks for our dog. What is also great, is that we can always message her when we have questions or share videos with her for feedback. Unfortunately, we had little time with her because of her move to Canada. But even in the three weeks that remained she made time for us and we much appreciate that!Loes Jacobs
